What is propolis

It is a resinous substance collected from bees, plant buds or substances found in tree peels and enriched with wax, pollen and enzymes. Its color varies depending on its plant origin from yellowish green to reddish or even black. Its smell, taste and solidity vary, which changes with temperature.

Propolis consists of 50-55% resinous substances and balms, 25-35% wax, 5-10% volatile substances of which 0.5% are essential oils, 5% pollen whose presence is accidental, 5% various organic substances such as flavonoids, benzoic acid, caffeic acid, feruric acid, minerals and vitamins B (B1, B2, B6 PP), C and E.

Indications

Propolis has bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties. It is used to treat injuries to the respiratory organs, oral cavity, and other areas of the human body. Contains in large concentrations flavones, flavonols and flavonoids that have the following effects on the human body -They have an anti-inflammatory effect on the joints on the skin and mucous tissues. -Protect vitamin C from oxidation. -They have a beneficial effect on capillaries. -They prolong the action of adrenaline by inhibiting omethyl transferase -They inhibit the aggregation of erythrocytes. -They improve blood circulation in the capillaries. -They have an antibacterial effect on gram positive and gram negative bacteria -They have an antiseptic effect. -Alcohol propolis extract 50% is used to treat chronic otitis. -Propolis is used against chronic itching, the treatment of local redness, pharyngitis, fungal infections and for general problems of otolaryngology. -Helps treat rheumatic arthritis and spinal anchorage problems -It has positive effects on the treatment of vasomotor nerves that cause runny respiratory cells (synache) -It is used to treat ulcers and prostate problems -Propolis is used in dentistry to treat oral cavity problems -It is used in cosmetics, lotions, face creams, soaps, shampoos and toothpastes.

Contraindications/Use

To date no contraindications of propolis have been reported with the exception of people who are allergic.
